CARING FOR YOUR FISH
Maintenance
schedule
Daily tasks
- Feed the fish at least once
(ideally 2-3 times) a day
- Switch on the aquarium lights
for 8-10 hours a day
- Check the water temperature
is correct, and ensure the filter and air pump
are working
- Inspect your fish to make sure
they all appear healthy
Every 2-3 weeks
- Perform a partial water change.
This dilutes accumulating waste from your aquarium
before it becomes a problem for your fish. You
will need to remove about a fifth of the water in the
tank, and replace it with clean water. This water
should not be straight for the tap, but should be pre-treated
with Stress CoatŪ to remove the chlorine that can harm
your fish.
Every 1-2 months
- Clean any filters you are using by rinsing them
in the water you have removed from the aquarium
(throw the water away afterwards).
- Remove any algae from the inside surfaces of the
tank using an appropriate tool that your retailer
will be able to supply (be careful not to scratch
the glass).
- Wipe any other external surfaces with a clean sponge
(do not use soaps or other detergents).
